Teddy the Rescue Bunny

Every animal has a story. Teddy’s began under a car, matted and in need of help. Now safe with Furry Friends, his next chapter starts here. Read more to follow his journey.

Connecting Through Animals

Our animal-assisted sessions are thoughtfully designed to support emotional wellbeing, confidence, and connection. We work with individuals and groups in care homes, schools, and SEND settings, creating calm, engaging experiences that encourage interaction, comfort, and positive moments through animals.

All sessions are led by authorised Animal Assisted Therapy Practitioners and Licensed Animal Handlers, with a strong focus on safety, wellbeing, and animal welfare.

Furry Friends Family

Meet the Furry Friends Family – a carefully selected group of animals, each with their own personality, story, and special role within our sessions. From the smallest creatures to our larger companions, every animal helps create calm, connection, and meaningful moments for the people we visit.

All of our animals are handled with care, respect, and a strong focus on welfare, ensuring they are happy, comfortable, and suited to the work they do.

Pre-Session Safety Information

To help ensure each session runs safely, smoothly, and in the best interests of both people and animals, we ask that organisers review some important information in advance.

This includes a short pre-session video outlining key guidance around hygiene, animal interaction, and what to expect during the visit. This helps everyone feel prepared, confident, and able to fully enjoy the experience.

The Humans Behind It All

While the animals may be the stars of the show, this is the team behind it all. Our practitioners are passionate about working with both people and animals, creating calm, engaging, and meaningful experiences in every session.

Each team member brings their own knowledge and experience. Our team includes both practitioners and volunteers who support the delivery of sessions, all working together to ensure a safe and positive experience.

All sessions are led by authorised Animal Assisted Therapy Practitioners and Licensed Animal Handlers, ensuring a safe and professional approach at all times.

Any income generated through sessions is reinvested directly back into the care, welfare, and upkeep of the animals.

Coming Soon at Furry Friends

FFAT Animal-Assisted Interaction Assessment Certification

We are currently developing a structured, welfare-led assessment designed to support animals involved in therapeutic, educational, and care-based environments.

Each animal is individually assessed for temperament, behaviour, handling, and overall wellbeing, helping to ensure they are comfortable, suitable, and supported in their role.

This certification promotes best practice and responsible animal care, with annual reassessments to maintain high welfare standards.

More details coming soon.

Sensory Sessions

We are currently developing a new range of sensory sessions, designed to support individuals with additional needs, including those with complex disabilities.

These sessions will focus on creating calm, engaging, and accessible experiences through sensory-based activities, offering a gentle and inclusive environment tailored to individual needs.

While separate from our animal-assisted sessions, these experiences will remain rooted in the same values of care, connection, and wellbeing that define Furry Friends.

We look forward to sharing more about this very soon.
